The Heidelberg 8400 is identical to the Heidelberg 8200, but with the addition of a Robotic Drum Exchanger which affords this scanner’s unprecedented productivity, allowing it to run unattended for many hours. All our scanners are fully refurbished and restored to factory specifications. Heidelberg Primescan D8400’s ship with two 150mm drums and two 212mm drums, each with special RF rings containing the “electronic bar code” of each drum. Primestation D8200 mounting station is also included.
This is the final generation of the legacy drum scanners built at the old Hell factory in Kiel, Germany. These machines are most appreciated for their small footprint and outstanding scanning capabilities. Widely regarded as the best scanner to capture tonal subtleties in transparencies and negatives. The D8400 is identical to a D8200 in that it can run two drum sizes, with the addition of a Robotic Drum Exchanger. Together with NewColor, this gives the scanner unprecedented productivity, as jobs can be queued and processed while the scanner is working on 4 separate drums.

Please note – Heidelberg 8400 drums have a special RF ring in the base which allows the scanner to identify the drum while it’s on the Robotic Exchanger but not loaded in the scanner. Normal drums will work in the scanning position only, but cannot be used in automatic mode.
